To prevent a load on the secondary side of a potential transformer used in a main circuit in equipment or a transmission/distribution system from performing erroneous and abnormal operation when the potential transformer is saturated.
A control method for the load on the secondary side of the potential transformer is such that: the primary voltage of the potential transformer 2 is detected with the primary voltage detection unit 4 of a saturation monitoring device 6; when the primary voltage becomes equal to the voltage of the potential transformer 2 as is saturated, the operation of a load 3 connected with the secondary side of the potential transformer 2 is locked by the output 5 of the saturation monitoring device 6 so that it does not react on variation in the secondary voltage of the potential transformer due to the saturation.
