To provide a control method of a plasma type melting furnace capable of reducing wear of an electrode and suppressing fluctuation of melting capacity.
This control method of the plasma type melting furnace 1 provided with a plurality of plasma torches 6a, 6b having a rear part electrode 61a and front part electrode 61b arranged in an axial direction side by side and electromagnetic coils 65a, 65b surrounding each of the electrodes, changes an electric current for supplying between both of the electrodes while supplying a working fluid between the rear part electrode 61a and front part electrode 61b. Thereby, a plasma arc of which an arc root moves in the axial direction is generated, and a sum of power supplied to each of the plasma torches 6a, 6b is maintained constant.
