PURPOSE: To prolong the lifetime of a strobe flash by controlling flashing according to ambient lightness by a strobe flash control circuit.

CONSTITUTION: Sunshine is inputted to signal amplifier 15 via photoelectric element 14 and output 18 of signal amplifier 15 is compared with output 19 of memory circuit 16 stored with a reference level of lightness by comparator circuit 17. When the sunshine is much enough and output 18 of signal amplifier 15 is greater than signal 19 of memory circuit 16, output 20 is generated and when insufficient, on the other hand, output 20 is not generated. On receiving the above-mentioned output signal, gate 21 operates to cut off signal 22 to power circuit 23 of strobe flash 13. In this constitution, strobe flash 13 flashes interlocking with the shutter of a camera only when sunshine is insufficient, so that the lifetime of the strobe flash can be prolonged.
