Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent knocking as reducing the cost of fuel and the HC discharge amount by delaying the time of valve-opening of a cooling liquid control device only at the time of idling state of an engine for keeping the cooling liquid at a high temperature during the idling. CONSTITUTION:A thermostat 12 held between a water outlet 10 and a water outlet housing 11 provided in a main body of an engine is equipped with a wax- type heat-sensing part 13 and a piston 14 to be extended in accordance with a cooling temperature. When the piston 14 is extended, a control piece 15 with a control piece end 15a to be in contact in its upper end is connected with a diaphragm 21 in a diaphragm device 20. Only when an idling state detection switch 50 is on, a negative pressure is introduced into an upper chamber 23 of the diaphragm device 20 from a suction negative pressure guide pipe 32 via a three-way solenoid valve 30, and the control piece end 15a is pulled up to delay the timing of valve-opening.
