Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling a rotary driven ultrasonic motor depending on the operating state thereof by making a switch between high speed driving and high torque driving.
SOLUTION: Operating state of a rotary driven ultrasonic motor is detected by a sensor 10 for detecting the load torque being applied to the motor or a sensor 11 for detecting the r.p.m. of the motor and a motor drive controller 7 makes a decision which of high speed driving or high torque driving is required for the motor. Based on the decision results, the controller 7 varies the frequency (f) and the level Vin of a high frequency driving voltage E2 being applied to the stator 1 of the motor through a motor control circuit 2 thus controlling the motor while switching between high speed driving and high torque driving.
