PURPOSE: To reduce actuation frequency of a switch by a method wherein switches inserted between a trolley wire and an load are closed during the coasting of an electric car.
CONSTITUTION: In a control system of an electric car, including: (A) a switch S inserted between a trolley wire and a load, (B) a chopper system CH driving a DC motor which can function as a generator through an intermediary of a reactor LF absorbing higher harmonics wave components of a negative side being connected to said switch S and a filter part being constituted a filter capactor CF, and (C) a controlling means performing a preliminary excitement during braking by the voltage of the filter capacitor, control is performed so as to close the switch S during a coasting operation. At this time, in comparison with the time when the switch is turned ON during a power running, the switch is turned OFF during the coasting operation and switch S is turned ON and soon is turned OFF during the braking time, the switch S of this system is not turned OFF by turning the power running notch OFF, but is continuously held ON, as a result, the actuation frequency of the switch operation can be reduced.
