PURPOSE: To make a high-precision edition possible by using tape running speed signals of original and master VTRs to control the matching of edition starting points.

CONSTITUTION: Clock pulse 8a which has a higher frequency than tape running speed signals 4a and 3a fro original VTR 2 and master VTR 1 is generated, and pulse 8a is used to perform phase separation in 9 and 10 so that generation timings of signals 3a and 4a may be prevented from agreeing with each other. Then, the number of pulses generated from means 9 and 10 is subjected to reversible counting in 13, and the difference of the number of generated pulses between means 9 and 10 is detected by 17 to control tape running control system selector switch 6, and the output of counter 13 is used to control the tape speed by 16. As a result, the matching of edition starting points can be controlled in editing.
