Abstract:

PURPOSE: To select flexibly an I/O device by setting a prescribed bit of the channel control word in the channel control block which has control information for a peripheral device.

CONSTITUTION: When bits of chain 1 and chain 2 of channel control word CCW in channel control block CCB have been set, the processing is continuously moved to new CCB indicated by chain 1 and chain 2. At this time, a new I/O device is optionally prepared by the processing of the chain destination. If the device of the chain destination is changed, the device change bit of CCW is set to read out a device number from CCB of the chain destination, and after that, chaining is performed.
