PURPOSE: To provide a control valve simply and conveniently shaped for use in the control of fuel flow in the fuel system of an internal combustion engine.

CONSTITUTION: This control valve includes a valve member 7 shaped for engagement with a seating 6 which is defined about a flow passage 3. The valve member 7 is movable between open and closed positions by an actuator 14. A blind bore 9 is formed in the valve member 7, a plunger 11 is located therein engageable with a fixed reaction surface external of the valve member. The inner end of the blind bore 9 communicates with a passage 13 which communicates with the flow passage 3. The valve member 7 is slidable in a bore 2 which is adjacent to the seating and of enlarged diameter to define a recess 4 which communicates with a further flow passage 5.
