PURPOSE: To make covering highly accurate by detecting the temperature of a composition and estimating the future temperature and controlling the heating, and also controlling the shift distance of the cooler provided on the way and the metallic wire receiving speed independently when extruding foaming synthetic resin onto the metallic wire supplied continuously above the foaming temperature so as to cover the wire.
CONSTITUTION: An insulator composition consisting of foaming synthetic resin is extruded continuously from an extruder 3. And the shifting metallic wire 4 is covered with the composition being heated to foaming temperature or more. Moreover, a cooler 5 capable of freely separating from the extruder 3 is provided in the shifting direction of the metallic wire 4 so as to cool and solidify the composition. In this constitution, a thermyster 15, which detects the temperature of the composition, is provided between the cross head 3a built in the extruder 3 and the covered metallic wire 4a, and an operating means operates the parameter concerned with the physical properties of the composition and the responsiveness of facilities and estimates the future temperature based on this. Then, based on this parameter, the temperature of the composition and the shifting direction of the cooler 5 are controlled. This way, the capacitance of the covered wire and the outside diameter can be adjusted highly accurately.
