To provide a controller for motor stop that prevents a continuous material from being broken in a process line using a plurality of motors, and stops the line early in case of emergency.
The controller includes an input part 17 which receives respective coil diameter information on a pay-off reel and a tension reel and rotating speed information on respective motors; and a recording part 18 in which ratings of the respective motors and inert moments of respective machine parts are recorded. A stop time computation part 19 computes a stop time for each motor when a regenerative brake is applied with current torque. A torque limit-value computation part 20 computes a torque limit value for stopping according with a maximum stop time for each motor. Once an emergency stop command is input, an output part 21 outputs respective torque limit values and torque-limited regenerative brakes are applied with the torque limit values.
