PURPOSE: To return a profile to a preset one by rotating an eccentric sleeve and to improve the shape controllability, by detecting a load of segmental back-up rolls at every supporting members, and computing an angle to be rotated for each eccentric sleeve.
CONSTITUTION: When a roll profile comes to change by abrasion of bodies 14 of segmental back-up rolls, eccentric sleeves 15, and bearings 20 through longterm rolling, a motor rotating-angle arithmetic device 27 is actuated by an operator's manual input. Then, the device 27 computes a rotating angle of a motor 24 from the difference between a load value sent from a load cell 26 to be previously stored and a load value now being sent from the load cell 26 to output the result to a motor rotating-angle controlling device 29. Further, the device 27 judges which clutch 30 is to be connected and outputs it to a clutch controlling device 29. Then a roll profile formed by the segmental back-up rolls is returned to the initially set profile.
