When a walk mode is selected, a controller 30 randomly determines a conversation genre. When the conversation genre is determined to "the number of steps", a toy body 10 obtains the number of steps counted by a vibration detector and selects a conversation pattern number. Alternatively, when the conversation genre is determined to "a time", this toy selects a conversation pattern number according to the lapse time from setting the walk mode.
