Title:
COOLANT-LEAKAGE DETECTOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6186629
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make it possible to detect from which position liquid metal sodium Na leaks, by monitoring the different kinds of gases or powders, which are discharged from the different positions of a cooling pipe.

CONSTITUTION: Microcapsules 11 are embedded in an heat insulating material 3, which is wound around a cooling pipe 1. When the temperature of the capsules is increased by the heat of leaking Na or when alkaline grains are contacted with the capsules and the capsules are broken, the sealed gases or powders in the inside are discharged into a storing chamber 2. Part of the atmosphere in the storing chamber 2 is taken out by a pump 5 by way of a pipe 12 and introduced into a detector 7. The amounts of elements in the gases are determined for every component and mass spectrometric analysis is performed. The kinds of the elements in the gas 14, which is sealed in the capsule 11 is different for every place of the pipe. The sealed gases are hardly included in the atmospheric gas 13 in the storing chamber 2. Chemically stable gases, e.g., H, He, Kr, Xe and the like are used.
