PURPOSE: To facilitate the temp. control of castings to be carried out and the reuse of molding sand, by cooling the castings by means of the circulating cooling sand which is controlled of temp. and moisture in the 2nd cooling cylinder for castings.

CONSTITUTION: While castings 4 pass through the 1st cooling cylinder 2 for casting, the castings are slightly cooled by molding sand 5. The castings 4 delivered from the cylinder 2 are supplied together with the cooling sand 6 circulated in a circulating line 30 for the cooling sand from a delivery chute 22 into the 2nd cooling cylinder 3 for castings. While the castings 4 pass through the cylinder 3, the castings are cooled by the sand 6, and are carried out onto a conveyor 48 from a dischrging part 26, from which the castings are conveyed to the next stage. The sand 6 discharged from the sand branch part 25 of the cylinder 3 is fed to the 2nd feed conveyor 33, and according to the amt., moisture and temp. of the sand 6, the sand temp. and moisture are controlled to reference values in the 1st feed water agitating tower 35 and the 2nd feed water agitating tower 36, then the sand is delivered by an elevator onto the chute 22.
