Title:
COOLER FOR ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH02166377
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make it possible to improve a cooling capacity, prevent damage induced by external load, and reduce cost by constituting the entire system with a loop type heat pipe, placing an electrically insulated sleeve in the middle between its steam pipe and a liquid circulating pipe, and selecting a non-electric conductor for an operating fluid.

CONSTITUTION: Ceramic or similar material-made sleeves 27 and 28 are placed between a steam pipe 25, and a liquid circulating pipe 26 in the middle of the pipes so that an evaporation section 11 and a condensation section 18 may be electrically insulated. The entire system forms an enclosed circulation passage and contains flon, which is a non-electrical conductivity material, inside. Furthermore, an operating fluid is sealed so that is may perform evaporation and condensation over a specified temperature range, thereby forming a loop type heat pipe on the whole. The steam pipe 25 and the liquid circulating pipe are provided with curved sections or bending sections. This construction makes it possible to select proper dimensions required for the evaporator section 11 and the condensation section 18 and cool electric equipment to a satisfactory extent. Furthermore, only two insulated sleeves are required, which reduces cost. The curved sections and bending sections serve to absorb impact or vibration, thereby preventing damage.
