To obtain a cooling and protecting suit with which the body of an operator can be cooled and workability can be improved by simple constitution.

This cooling and protecting suit is furnished with a gas supply means 11 for supplying gas, a first pipe conduit 12 of which the one end is connected to the gas supply means 11 and the other end part is connected to a breathing apparatus 33 attached to the operator 9, a branching connection tool 13 which is fixed to the first pipe conduit 12 and branches the gas, a gas cooling means 14 for cooling the gas branched by the branching connection tool 13, a protecting suit body 15 which comprises at least a part constituted of a double layer structure, has spray holes 16 for spraying gas toward the body at an inner layer part being a side close to the body and covers the body of the operator 9 and a second pipe conduit 17 which has flexibility and of which the one end part is connected to the gas cooling means 14 and the other end is connected to the protecting suit body 15.
