To provide a cooling storage compartment which can remarkably reduce the frosting of a cooler and, at the same time, can improve the cooling efficiency in a storage chamber.
A controller 24 is provided with a timer and executes a cold storage medium freezing mode in which a cold storage medium 13 is frozen by means of the cooler 34 by operating a compressor 37 at a preset time and a cold storage medium cooling mode in which the inside of the storage chamber 5 is cooled by utilizing the cooling ice melting action of the cold storage medium 13 by stopping the compressor 37. In the cold storage medium freezing mode, the controller 24 executes off-cycle defrosting operation for ventilating air to the cooler 34 by means of a blower 20 or/and another blower 53 one time or a plurality of times by stopping the compressor 37.
