Abstract:

PURPOSE: To stabilize the refractory structure of a cooling tower and to enable the reduction of size and increase of performance by providing a preparatory chamber having red-hot coke charging port and a cooling chamber to cool the red-hot coke and combining both chambers in a specific manner.

CONSTITUTION: The objective cooling tower of a dry-quenching facility of coke is provided with a preparatory chamber 2 having a red-hot coke charging port 15 and a cooling gas exhaustion port 9a and placed above a cooling chamber 1 to hold red-hot coke 14 and cool the coke with a cooling gas (introduced from the bottom of the chamber). The preparatory chamber 2 has a bell-shaped structure 5 composed of an amorphous refractory material 5a and a water-pipe wall 5b and is suspended with a spring hanger 7 from an iron structure 6 constructed on refractory brick 3a. A cooling gas exhaustion port 9a is formed between the inner circumference of the cooling chamber 1 and the outer circumference of the preparatory chamber 2.
