Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the pulverization efficiency of a high-temp. steel making-slag by maintaining the pressure of the steam generated at the time of spraying water to the slag in a hermetic container and pulverizing the slag by a hydration reaction and the time for maintaining the steam at this pressure in the specific ranges of conditions.
CONSTITUTION: The steel making slag contg. CaO at a high ratio is put in a high-temp. state into the hermetic container 1 and after an upper opening and closing part 3 is hermetically closed, the water in a feed water tank 6 is sprayed by a pump 4 from a nozzle 7 onto the slag at a ratio of 5 to 30 tons/hour.m2. The CaO of the slag is made into Ca(OH)2 and the slag is self-pulverized by the hydration reaction of the water with the high-temp. slag. This slag is subjected to the treatment to satisfy the relation of the T time and 3.50≥P0.6×T0.4≥1.48 (where P≤15, T≤1) in an atmosphere of the generated steam under the pressure of Pkg/cm2 and to satisfy the above- mentioned equation by supplying the steam from another route 10 when the amt. of the steam is insufficient. The water spraying is stopped and the water is intermittently sprayed when the temp. of the slag falls to ≤200°C. The hydration reaction of the CaO is accelerated and the steel making-slag is rapidly powdered by the self- pulverization.
