PURPOSE: To minimize wear and damage of sponge balls used for removing scale in condenser tubes, by imparting some angle to the end portion of each condenser tube projected from the surface of an end plate by means of a conical jig.
CONSTITUTION: A titanium tube 4 is fixed to a titanium-tube supporting plate or end plate 5 by way of bulging, in the manner that it is projected outwards from the end plate 5. Then, a conical jig is forced into the end portion of the tube 4 for imparting an angle α and increasing the diameter at the end portion. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to introduce a sponge ball 2 used for removing scale in the condenser tube smoothly into the tube 4 with no contact to its end portion and hence to minimize wear and damage of sponge ball.
