PURPOSE: To luminously display points corresponding to inputted coordinates in a coordinate inputting device of an electromagnetically coupled type, by arranging coils in a plate-like display panel as a matrix.
CONSTITUTION: When a position detector is contacted on a display panel 10, magnetic field producing systems X1WXn at X-side are put into the operating condition at first. An address selecting circuit 13 successively drives address driver pairs 121. A vector of rotating magnetic field is produced in the electrode at the X-side of each pair. A coordinate detecting circuit computes the X- coordinate of the point where the position detector contacts. Then, the Y-coordinate is computed in the same way. The x- and Y-coordinates are transmitted to an external processing device and, at the same time, inputted into the address selecting circuit 13. At this time, the display panel 10 is in the display mode, and the selected coordinate generate light. A gas discharge display panel, liquid crystal panel, EL display panel, etc., having a matrix-like electrode structure can be used as the display panel 10.
