To obtain the subject copolymer having a specific content of a conjugated polyene, narrow molecular weight distribution, and giving high strength film and high tensile rigidity rubber or the like by using a specific catalyst for olefin polymerization.
The objective copolymer including 0.1 to 95 mol% of a conjugated polyene, and having a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) measured by gel permeation chromatograph(GPC) of ≤3.5 is obtained by polymerizing an α-olefin and a conjugated polyene (e.g.; isoprene or the like) in the presence of an olefin polymerization catalyst including (A) one or more kinds of transition metal complexes represented by formula I to III (M1 is a group 4 transition metal element of the periodic table; A is a 16th group atom; J is a 14th group atom; Cp1 is a group having cyclopentadiene type anion skeleton; X1, X2 and R1 to R6 are each H, a halogen, an aryl or the like; X is an atom of the 16th group elements (B) an aluminum compound, and/or (C) a boron compound.
