PURPOSE: To obtain a copolymer preventing or delaying slackening after a radical having non-linear optical activity is oriented to the corresponding substd. copolymer by using a dicarboximide and an alkenyl isocyanate and/or an alkenylurethane as bases.
CONSTITUTION: A copolymer is based on a dicarboximide represented by formula I [wherein R1-R5 are each H, a 1-20C alkyl, a hetero atom-containing 1-20C alkyl or a substd. 1-20C alkyl; R6 is H, a (phenyl or OH-substd.) 1-10C alkyl, a 3-8C cycloalkyl, phenyl, benzyl, 1-4 of a 1-6C alkyl or a 1-6C alkoxy-substd. phenyl, benzyl, naphthyl or the like; X is O or NH; Y is methylene, ethylene propylene, groups, represented by formulae II, III, IV (wherein (n) is 1-15) or the like; Z is H; M is a copolymerixable monomer; a+b+c+d is 1; (a) and (c) may be each 0.3-0.7 and (b) and (d) may be each 0-0.3] and a monomer selected from an alkenyl isocyanate and alkenylurethane.
