PURPOSE: To obtain a nuclear track detector which achieves higher sensitivity, a reduction in the surface roughness in etching and a shortening of processing time by using diethylene glycol bis and a specified vinyl monomer as monomer component.
CONSTITUTION: This nuclear track detector is a copolymer which contains diethylene glycol bis (aryl carbonate) and a vinyl monomer having a side chain group containing one or more kinds of α-amino acid or oligomer thereof as monomer component. This vinyl monomer is selected from among the compounds given by the formulas: where X represents H or CH3; (n) and (l), each an integer of 1-10; R1, a residual amino acid group; and R2, H or an alkyl group. In the manufacture thereof, for example, when a carboxylic group of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid is bonded to an amino group of α-amino acid by esterification, the vinyl monomer having the side chain group containing one kind of α-amino acid is obtained. The use of the copolymer can shorten etching processing time or the sensitivity to particles is improved by copolymerization.
