To obtain the subject copolymer useful as a film, a fiber, a molding, etc., low in a xylene-soluble component content and excellent in rigidity and productivity, by polymerizing a mixture of propylene and another 2-10C alkene-1 under specific conditions.
A mixture of propylene an a 2-10C alkene-1 such as ethylene or butene-1 is adjusted in the partial pressure ratio of 5/1 to 100/1 in vapor phase on a solid bed under stirring and polymerized by using a Ziegler-Natta catalyst comprising a titanium-containing solid content containing a titanium compound such as titanium tetrachloride, an magnesium compound such as magnesium chloride, a halogen such as chlorine, a carrier such as aluminum silicate and an electron donative component, an aluminum component and an organosilicon compound of the formula (R1 is a 3-8C cycloalkyl; R2 is a 1-8C alkyl; (n) is 1-3) such as bimethoxydicyclopentylsilane as another electron donative component under 15-40bar pressure at 50-100°C for 0.5-5 hours average retention time of a reaction mixture to give the objective polymer.
