Abstract:
To provide a copolymer suitable for a hydrogel, which has good strength and is excellent in water holding property and lubricity.SOLUTION: Provided is a copolymer comprising a structural unit (a) derived from a hydrophilic vinyl monomer and a structural unit (b) derived from a hydrophobic vinyl monomer. Q values of the hydrophilic vinyl monomer and the hydrophobic vinyl monomer are 0.5 or less respectively and e values thereof are -2.2 or more respectively. Copolymerizability ratios of the hydrophilic vinyl monomer and the hydrophobic vinyl monomer, r1 and r2, satisfy the following conditions (1) and condition (2): condition (1), 0.01≤r1≤1 and 0.1≤r2≤20; and condition (2), r1×r2≤1.SELECTED DRAWING: None
