To provide a method of manufacturing a raw material for an oxide superconductor which contains a trifluoroacetate (TFA) mixture of rare earth element-barium-copper containing Y by preparing copper carbonate containing no copper oxide and using the copper carbonate, carbonate of rare earth element containing Y and barium carbonate as starting raw materials.
The raw material for an oxide superconductor is manufactured by adding ammonium hydrogen carbonate aqueous solution into a copper nitrate aqueous solution, stirring, aging and filtering to collect a solid material, heating the solid material at a low temperature of 60°C under a vacuum atmosphere until the pressure of the atmosphere become 0.13 Pa to dry to obtain the copper carbonate, properly weighing the copper carbonate, the carbonate of the rare earth element containing Y and barium carbonate and mixing to prepare a carbonate mixture, adding methyl alcohol and TFA into the carbonate mixture and mixing and vacuum-drying the resultant blue solution at 120°C until the pressure of the atmosphere becomes ≤13 Pa.
