PURPOSE: To perform always stable exposure free from unevenness by rubbing and cleaning the array end face with a cleaning member through reciprocating motion of original scanning in a copying apparatus which projects the original light images onto photoreceptor by the use of a short focus small imaging element array.
CONSTITUTION: A small imaging element array 4 is disposed with its longitudinal direction being at a right angle to the moving direction of an original base 5 and parallel to the revolving shaft of a drum 1 and has the length to cover the original of the maximum width that can be copied. The array 4 exposes the original light images, forming electrostatic latent images on the photoreceptor 1'. A cleaning member 16 is mounted to the reat lower face of the base frame 5" of the original base in the position where it does not hinder the projection of the original images to the photoreceptor. As the original base 5 reciprocates in synchronization to the rotation of the drum 1, the bottom face 16' of the cleaning member 16 makes pressure contact to the incident end face 4' of the array 4, thereby wiping away the contaminations such as dust, etc. deposited on the end face 4'.
