To provide a copying device for recording and outputting a specified number of manuscript images, together with appended images such as a management number in a form easy to understand.

A copying device 1 reads an image of a manuscript 22 at a reading unit 3, and prints and outputs the image of the manuscript 22 on a paper 24 at a recording printing unit 4 for a number of output copies specified at an operation display unit 2. An image of a management number according to the specified number of output copies is used as an appended image. In addition, an image in which any fixed stamp such as "reproduction strictly prohibited" and date/time information are combined and the fixed stamp and the management number are arranged at relatively arbitrary position is used as an appended image. The appended image is set and adjusted at one or more arbitrary positions on the paper 24 specified at the operation display unit 2 according to the size of the paper 24 and is composited with the image of the manuscript 22. The composited image is printed and outputted on the paper 24 at the recording printing unit 4.
