PURPOSE: To make it possible to perform continuous cycle machining by providing a model drive unit added to a copying machine and a control device equipped with a function to set the quantity of cut and the number of cycles and with a command fuction to direct the model drive movement.
CONSTITUTION: First in a model control device 10, the cut quantity and the number of the cut cycles for rough machining and finish machining are set in advance respectively. When the auto-cycle machining is started through a control panel 12, a tool 1 approaches a work 16 to be positioned at a prescribed cutting place, and then the copy machining is performed following a model 11. Next, a tool 17 escapes and returns to the starting point through a quick traverse of a copying lathe, then a stepping motor 2 rotates in response to the cut quantity and the model 11 is moved through a model drive unit 9, completing one cycle. This cycle is performed for rough machining and finish machining in accordance with the set cut quantity and the set number of cut cycles. Thus unmanned continuous machining can be performed.
