PURPOSE: To improve copy paper carrying ability by constituting a copying machine in such a way that a leading edge, on the fixing side, of an entry guide plate provided on the upstream side of a fixing unit is not higher than a tangent to a photosensitive drum from the press-contact surface of upper and lower fixing rollers.
CONSTITUTION: The entry guide plate 6 is mounted in such a way that the leading edge part 6a on the fixing side reaches the tangent A to the photosensitive drum 1 from the press-contact surface of the upper and lower fixing rollers 5a and 5b. Additionally, a carrying guide plate 4, provided between the photosensitive drum 1 and the entry guide plate 6, is arranged so that any point on the guide surface does not exceed the tangent A. Therefore, the copy paper smoothly enters between the rollers 5a and 5b because the entry guide plate 6 is on the line extended from the press-contact surface of the upper and lower fixing rollers 5a and 5b, that is, on the tangent A, even if a copy paper is thick and small in size like a post card and a library card, and even if the carrying force is derived only from the attracting force of the photosensitive drum 1 to be weak because the copy paper is separated from a carrying roller 7 before entering the fixing unit 5 after transfer. Thus, transfer misregistration and jamming are prevented.
