To provide a cord housing device capable of smooth pay-out/take-up of a cord.

The cord housing device is provided with a framework 1, a rotating disc 4 provided inside the framework and having a rotary shaft, a winding barrel 3 formed to be symmetrically spread like stairs into a skirt part thereof around the rotary shaft as an axis of symmetry and provided with the rotating disc 4 in one end thereof and to be extended/shrunken in the axial direction by folding the stairs so as to house the cord, a slide disc 22 integrally provided with the winding barrel 3 on a side opposite to the side provided with the rotating disc, and a cylindrical member 20 provided on the same shaft with the rotary shaft and to be integrally rotated with the rotating disc so as to cover the winding barrel and formed with a spiral groove to be engaged with the peripheral part of the slide disc 22 in the inner peripheral surface thereof. The slide disc 22 is moved in the axial direction by rotation of the cylindrical member 20 integrally rotated with the rotating disc rotated by paying out/taking up the cord, and the winding barrel houses the cord 7 in the stairs part or pays out it while extending or shrinking in response to the amount of the movement of the slide disc.
