PURPOSE: To suppress the heating of components of a temperature detecting means and prevent defective contact and heating by providing an opening/closing means cutting off a temperature signal transmitting circuit including a temperature detecting means and a control means controlling it when a temperature setting means is released.
CONSTITUTION: When an iron main body 1 is mounted on a stand 7 and a temperature setting means 9 is set to positions other than 'off', an opening/ closing means 12 is closed by a control means 13. A temperature detecting means 4 is excited from a temperature signal electrode 11 and a temperature signal terminal 6 electrically connected to it. As far as the temperature setting means 9 is set to the 'off' state, the iron main body 1 is not excited. The heating of components of the temperature detecting means 4 can be suppressed, and deterioration can be prevented. The life of the temperature signal terminal 6 and the temperature signal electrode 11 is extended, and defective contact and heating or the like due to oxidation deterioration can be prevented.
