PURPOSE: To improve the workability by conducting an identification of core number and a due splicing within a connection box where terminals only corresponding to the number of cores of a multi-pair cable are arranged in a horizontal symmetry with a manipulator.
CONSTITUTION: When a signal is transmitted from identification signal oscillators 3 and 4 spliced one end of multipair cables 1 and 2 to identify the core number, it is received with an identification signal receiving section of a manipulator 9 passing through communication lines 7 and 8 from core termination positions of terminal plates 5 and 6. This signal is decoded with a control section to prepare and memorize a check list of the core number and the core termination positions corresponding to a terminal of terminal plates 5 and 6. After the end of the checking, the manipulator 9 splices right and left terminals in a splicing box 12 with splicing arms 10 and 11 corresponding to the same core number as the terminal plates 5 and 6. Thereafter, communication lines 7 and 8 are removed and the splicing box 12 inserted between the terminal plates 5 and 6 to complete the splicing.
