To provide a cornea treating agent containing tranilast, effective for promoting the cure of cornea after the ophthalmic operation, especially optical keratectomy with an excimer laser and useful for preventing the corneal clouding.

This treating agent contains (A) tranilast: 2-{[3-(3,4- dimethoxyphenyl)-1-oxo-2-propenyl]amino}benzoic acid and optionally further (B) a hexapeptide of the formula A-B-Pro-C-D-E {A is L- or D-arginine having deaminated, alkylated or acylated N-terminal amino group, etc.; B is L- or D-arginine, etc.; Pro is L- or D-proline; C is L- or D-tyrosine, etc.; D is L- or D-valine, etc., which may have a 1-4C alkyl substituting for one H atom of amino group; E is valine, etc., which may have a [C-terminal carboxyl group substituted with a group of the formula COOR (R is H or a 1-4C alkyl), a group of the formula CH2OR, etc.], etc.}, (C) an epidermal proliferation factor and (D) a fibronectin.
