PURPOSE: To simply correct a printing plate with no defect by cutting a tape, in a necessary shape, produced by forming a hydrophilic layer conrg. a hydrophilic substance and a binder as principal components on the surface of a support such as paper and peeling paper on the back side with a tacky layer in-between and by adhering the cut tape to a part of the plate to be corrected.

CONSTITUTION: When the nonimage part (ground part) of a printing plate having a formed lipophilic image is corrected before desensitizing the plate, a tape or a seal is produced by forming a hydrophilic layer contg. a hydrophilic substance such as Zn, ZnO or Fe dust and a binder such as polymethyl methacrylate or butyral as principal components on the surface of a support such as paper, plastic film or mesh screen and a tacky layer of an acrylic compound, rubber or the like and peeling paper on the back side. The tape or the like is cut in a shape corresponding to a part to be corrected, and after removing the peeling paper, the tape is adhered to the printing plate. Thus, correction can be carried out easily with no defect in a short time even if the part to be corrected is small, and a printing plate with superior printing resistance is obtd.
