To obtain a cosmetic composition, resistant to light and capable of protecting the skin from UV rays, by including a dibenzoyl methane derivative and a specific compound showing a UV-B filter function.

This composition contains (A) a dibenzoyl methane derivative shown by formula I (Q is H or the like; and G is a 1-4C alkyl), and (B) a compound shown by formula II [R is a 1-8C alkyl or the like; X is O or NH; R1 is H, ammonium or formula III (A is a 1-8C alkyl or the like; R3 is H or the like; and (n) is 1 to 10); and R2 is the same as R when X is NH, or the like]. The components A and B are contained respectively at 1 to 5 and 1 to 6 wt.% based on the whole cosmetic composition, with the component A/component B weight ration being at least 1. The composition absorbs UV rays in a region including 290 to 380 nm, and can be efficiently used to protect the skin from the sunbeams with UV-A and UV-B.
