PURPOSE: To form a cosmetic sample additionally thinner so that these samples are bound to magazines and books by printing a base material with the cosmetics by using a gravure printing method.

CONSTITUTION: This cosmetic sample 1 is formed by thinly printing one surface of the base material 2 consisting of a soft thin body, such as film or sheet made of a synthetic resin or paper, by using a gravure printing method. Namely, a roll 4 inscribed with a gravure plate on its peripheral surface is rotated while the roll is dipped in the cosmetics 3 made into ink by heating, etc. The excess components exclusive of the cosmetics put into the gravure patterns 5 are scraped off by a doctor 6. The base material 2 is brought into pressurized contact with the peripheral surface of the roll 4 to print the one surface of the base material 2 with the cosmetics 3. The thickness of the printed cosmetics 3 is extremely small and the base material is formable to the extremely smaller thickness than in the case of silk printing.
