To obtain a new coumarin compound useful as a photosensitizer.
This compound is shown by formula I(R1 and R2 are each H, an alkyl, an alkenyl, an aralkyl, an aryl, etc.; R3 is H, a halogen, an alkyl, OH, an alkoxy, an aryloxy, etc.; R4 is H, a halogen, an alkyl, OH, cyano, etc.; R5 and R6 are each H, an alkyl, an alkoxy, an aryloxy, etc.; R7 is H, a halogen, an alkyl or an alkoxy) such as 7-diethylamino-3-[2'-(4"- diethylaminophenylcarbonyl) ethenyl{9147/28}coumarin. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II with a compound of formula II in the presence of a reaction promoter (e.g. piperidine). The compound of formula I has sufficient sensitivity to a visible light range, especially to second harmonic of an argon laser and YAG laser and is excellent in compatibility to resins and storage stability. A visible light-sensitive resin composition containing the compound of formula I as a photosensitizer forms an excellent photosensitive layer for a visible laser.
