PURPOSE:To simplify the assembling process of a transmission and to make it possible to reuse a cover, by providing a rotation locking part, an annular groove and a snap ring in the outer periphery of the cylindrical section of a movable pulley, and inward projections adapted to be engaged with the snap ring, in the cylindrical section of the cover. CONSTITUTION:In the outer periphery of cylindrical section of a movable pulley 154, there are provided a rotation locking part 199, an annular groove 197, and in the cylindrical section 181 of a cover 175, there are provided a pawl 89 adapted to be engaged with the rotation locking part 199 and inward projections 183, 185, 187 adapted to be engaged with the snap ring 193. Accordingly, the rotation locking part 199 and the pawl 189 check the circumferential movement of the cover 175, and since the snap ring 193 is disposed between the annular groove 197 and the inward projections 183, 185, 187, the axial movement of the cover 175 is also checked. Further, the movable pulley 154 and the cover 175 are simply mounted and removed without any special device being used, and therefore, the assembly process of the transmission may be simplified. Further, it is possible to reuse one and the same cover 175.
