To prevent collection of water inside a cover by rapidly evaporating the water intruding into a sliding surface so as to discharge it outside, maintain a constant coefficient of friction between a sliding bearing body and the sliding surface, and enable the water, dirt, etc., on the sliding surface to be wiped with a cover material by utilizing relative displacements of the sliding bearing body and the sliding surface.
A waterproof sheet 41, which forms an outer surface, and a water-retaining membrane 42 of a nonwoven fabric, which forms an inner surface, are joined together with an adhesive, etc., in a state of covering the sliding surface 22. A hydrophilic coating 45 is applied to an end surface 43 of an outer periphery of the membrane 42. The water, absorbed by the membrane 42, on the sliding surface 22 is naturally evaporated outside after percolating into the hydrophilic coating 45.
