PURPOSE: To improve the resistance to thermal shock of a composite coating layer, by coating heat resisting alloy with Cr, then by coating said alloy with a mixed powder comprising Al powder, an activator for halogenation, alumina powder, and B powder etc. in order to perform Al coating.
CONSTITUTION: Heat resisting alloy is first coated with Cr. Then said Cr-coated heat resisting alloy is buried in a mixed powder consisting of Al powder, an activator for halogenation, alumina powder, and B powder or boron halogenide powder in a quantity 0.01W5wt% of Al, and is heated in a nonoxidizing atmosphere in order to perform Al coating. Hereby, a composite Cr-Al layer excellent in resistance to thermal shock and corrosion is formed. Preliminary coating of the heat resisting alloy with Ni prior to said Cr coating allows to improve further the resistance to thermal shock.
