To create a haploid plant at a higher frequency and obtain an F1 variety by inactivating the nucleus of an egg cell, etc., of a plant, then isolating the inactivated nucleus from a tissue, etc., of an individual to which the nucleus belongs, fusing the cells in the isolated state, culturing the fused cell and providing a plant body.
A nucleus of either of an egg cell and an androcyte of a plant such as the one belonging to the family Gramineae, e.g. a plant of the genus Zea is inactivated and both are then isolated from the individual tissue or organ to which they belong. The cells are fused in this isolated state and then cultured to afford a plant body and create a haploid plant. Furthermore, the doubling treatment of the haploid plant obtained by this method is preferably carried out to provide a diploid and create the plant doubled in the haploid.
