To obtain an agent for cosmetic or dermatic composition capable of providing excellent cosmetic characteristics e.g. easy untanglement and softening feeling, by designing itself to comprise a specific crosslinked or branched copolymer.
This agent is obtained by designing itself to comprise a crosslinked or branched copolymer obtained by copolymerization of a mixture comprising (A) a compound of formula I or II (R1 and R2 is each H or methyl; R3 to R5 are each a 1-30C alkyl; Z is NH or O; n is 2 to 5; A- is an anion derived from an organic or inorganic acid such as a halide e.g. chloride or bromide, or a methosulfatoanion, (B) a compound of formula III [R6 and R7 are each H or methyl; Z1 is OH, NHC(CH3)2CH2SO3H], (C) a compound of formula IV (X is O or NH; R8 is a 1-30C alkyl) and (D) a crosslinking agent or branching agent, wherein at least one of the compounds of respective formulas I, II and IV contains a 8-30C aliphatic chain, and the compounds of respective formulas I to IV may be quaternized.
