PURPOSE: To make a tilting device for a furnace unnecessary and eliminate the temperature reduction of molten metal during tapping work substantially by a method wherein a molten metal pouring nozzle, formed by a water-cooled copper segment, is provided at the bottom of a crucible while the molten metal pouring nozzle is blockaded or opened by the conduction of a second induction heating coil provided on the outer periphery of the molten metal pouring nozzle.
CONSTITUTION: When a first induction heating coil 4 is energized, molten metal drops to the bottom of a crucible and is solidified by contacting with a water-cooled copper segment being choked so as to have a diameter same as the small diameter of a molten metal pouring nozzle 3 whereby the opening of the molten metal pouring nozzle 3 is blockaded. Thereafter, the molten metal, contacting with the water-cooled copper segment, forms skull 7 on the inside of a furnace wall 2 while the molten metal 6 is held in the skull 7. Thereafter, the molten metal 6 in the skull 7 is mixed sufficiently to contrive the homogenizing of the constituents of the metal 6. Upon pouring the molten metal, a second induction heating coil 5, provided on the outer periphery of the molten metal pouring nozzle 3, is conducted to melt a solidified cell blockading the opening of the pouring nozzle 3 whereby the pouring of the molten metal is permitted. The molten metal 6 may be poured by the shortest distance without tilting the crucible, defects in casting products may be eliminated and the yield of casting may be improved.
