Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve the cooling efficiency and increase the temperature stability by providing a cold-retaining material which is formed of a material differing from that of a metal cylinder and a cold reservoir which is movably held inside the metal cylinder and forms an expansion space at its closed end.
CONSTITUTION: A displacer 51 is placed inside a cylinder 52. The inside of the displacer 51 is composed of vertically arranged two parts and, whereas the upper part is filled with a cold reservoir for higher temperature 57 containing a cold storage material such as copper, is filled with a cold reservoir for lower temperature 58 containing a cold storage material such as and a cold storage material consisting of a magnetic material for cryogenic uses. The cylinder 52 is formed longer by the length of a part which holds at an end a cold-retaining material formed of a material differing from that of the cylinder being of metal. The displacer is movably held inside the metal cylinder and forms an expansion space 54 at a closed end so as to suppress the pulsation of the temperature of the cooling part of the cold reservoir for lower temperature 58 by virtue of the specific heat of the cold-retaining material. This constitution makes it possible to improve the cooling efficiency and increase the temperature stability.
