Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the Cu-Al composite wire for gas shielded arc or plasma arc build-up welding which does not generate weld defects, such as pits and blowholes, and stably and inexpensively yields a wear resistant and heat resistant alloying layer having a high joining property to a base metal.

CONSTITUTION: This wire is the Cu-Al composite wire formed by filling a core material wire consisting of an Al base material into a sheath consisting of an Cu base material. The content of Cu in the sheath material is 30 to 85wt.% of the total weight of the composite wire and further, the sum of the content of the oxygen in the Cu base material of the sheath material and the content of the oxygen existing at the boundary between the core wire material and the sheath material is confined to <500ppm. The sum of the content of the hydrogen in the core material wire and the content of the hydrogen existing at the boundary face between the sheath material and the core wire material and the core material wire and the sheath material is confined to <300ppm.
