Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a curable resin composition useful for plastics molding having excellent mold release characteristics and light stability and comprising an aromatic glycidyl ether epoxy resin, an inert filler and accelerator in a specific ratio.
CONSTITUTION: A curable composition comprises (A) an aromatic glycidyl ether epoxy resin [preferably 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-propane], (B) preferably 50 to 80 wt.% of an inert filler (e.g. China clay, quartz powder or the like), (C) (i) a quarternary ammonium or phosphonium salt (e.g. tetramethylammonium chloride), (ii) preferably 0.5 to 0.85 mol per mol epoxy of a saturated cycloaliphatic acid anhydride (preferably hexahydrophthalic acid anhydride, methylhexahydrophthalic acid anhydride)) (iii) 0.1 to 0.25 mol of a polycarboxylic acid preferably derived from a poly (e.g. ethylene glycol), and 0.2 to 0.8 pt.wt. of an accelerator.
