To obtain a curable resin composition for overcoat coating of automobiles and capable of forming a film excellent in resistance against acidic rain, scratch resistance, yellowing resistance and appearance by allowing to contain an acrylic polycarboxylic acid, a polyepoxide and an antioxidant.
This resin composition comprises (A) 10-70wt.% of an acrylic polycarboxylic acid having ≥2 average number of carboxyl groups in a molecule, 5-300mg KOH/g solid acid value and 500-8000 number average molecular weight, (B) 10-80wt.% of a polyepoxide having 50-700 epoxy equivalence and 200-10000 number average molecular weight, (C) 0.1-10wt.% of an antioxidant and preferably (D) 5-70wt.% of a polyesterpolycarboxylic acid having 30-350 mgKOH/g solid acid value and (E) cross-linked resin particles. The component B is preferably a polyepoxide having hydroxyl groups and epoxy groups obtained by copolymerizing 5-70wt.% of a hydroxyl group-containing ethylenic unsaturated monomer of the formula with 10-60wt.% of an epoxy group- containing ethylenic unsaturated monomer.
